Oh yes, Friday afternoon on the beach! Umbrellas and tents as
far as the eye can see, or at least as far as the beach cam will let us see.
One thing 6 did notice, have all-you-all noticed the increasing number of
hammer shirts on the beach? 6 doesn’t want to sound pompous, but he is a real
trend setter! It is not too late for all of you to run over to Belk or in most
of your cases Lord and Taylor and get you one of them hammer shirts! As each of
you know, 6 has been expressing his displeasure with the whole idea of beach
tents. Since my efforts to have the famous KICA ban them from the beaches, just
like all the other beaches along the east coast have failed 6 says if you can’t
beat them join them! 6 is a trend setter, but if he has to steal an idea, well
it is not beneath him to do just that. A week or two ago, he noticed a group of
people who did it right. They must have gone to Ollie’s and picked them up two
giant tents. From my research, this would cost us about $100 bucks. So if we
fly or drive it would not make a difference, because we could just put them in
the trash when we left on Friday and would not have to worry about bringing them
home. All we would have to do is find an Ollie’s in Charleston metro area. 6
could always give 7&8’s buddy Josh a call, 6 is sure he would know exactly where
he could find one. The first day that 6 notice the tent complex was on a Monday
morning, 3 people (we could send 61, 62, 63, and 71) gathered on the beach
around 10:00 AM and picked their spot accounting for the tide changes and
constructed their private beach city. It only took them about ½ hour to erect
there home away from home, they left and sometime in the early afternoon they
returned with the rest of their crap, including their family. Once they got all
of the crap unloaded, they did a very interesting thing, the tent they chose
had sides on it, so they rolled down a canopy on each side and the total back
so that they were enclose on 3 of the four sides of the tent! Awesome! Privacy!
Here is 6’s plan! Unfortunately 6 doesn’t think we have
enough time this year to organize our own tent city, but if we all pull
together we certainly can accomplish this for next year! If you don’t want to
do it for your favorite brother/uncle/uncle in-law (is that even a thing), do
it for 621! If this doesn’t get KICA to kill tents on the beach, 6 doesn’t know
what will!
Picture this: Two 13x13 tents (338 sq feet), one Honda
generator, one portable A/C, one portable fridge, beach chairs, boom box, one
coffee pot, one laptop, five extension cords and one gallon of gas!
61, 62,63,&71 will go down to the beach at 0800 and set
up the tents, ensuring they place it where it will cause the most inconvenience
for our beach neighbors. 0930 people show up, fire up the generator, make some
coffee, and put ABC channel 2 on the laptop, so we can watch Josh, Hoda and
Kathy Lee. 13:00 open the fridge, and make some lunch, 14:00 fire up the A/C,
17:00 Rex Time on the beach, 1830, shut down the generator, 20:00 whiskey time
on the beach, 23:00 tent city teardown.
Words of wisdom: sometimes if you want change, words may not
be enough, you may have to take action!
