Time to start planning for 2014!

Since we are in the dead of winter, the snow is forever coming and the cold is making 6’s bones hurt, so 6 guesses it is time for vacation planning! 6 is announcing the official opening of Vacation 2014 planning.                6 and 8 have ordered the condo’s , so let the trips to Belk begin (that is if 62 will ever take me there) so that we can enter the shopping zone! 21 and 21A better get their butts in gear! 6 keeps hearing rumors that we might have a return visitor(s) this year. I will not say whom, because I don’t want to put any undue pressure on those that are retired, but time is a wasting! Just picture this, sitting on the beach could possibly be representatives of 1 thru 8 including 0A, Oh what a sight! 6 can imagine walking down the beach and looking up at our homestead and seeing a handsome group of people enjoying the majesty of sweltering Kiawah afternoon on the beach. The first bunch will be sittin on their butts right along the water’s edge as their chairs sink further and further in the sand as the waves cascade across their legs. As 6 walks a little further there will be another bunch sitting in the chairs talking about how they should get up and play some Frisbee or botchy ball, and then there is the last bunch all huddled under the umbrellas reading their books with their eyes closed. Can you imagine anything more perfect? Well leave it to me because I can! Same seating arraignment, that will never change, but picture this, we all have the same kinds of hats, the same color swim trunks, accessorized with the same fancy shades,  and to top it off the same shirts. Now tell me that would not be a sight to see!

In order to make this happen we need to get started now! Here is the plan:

Swim trunks… responsibility 61… the task is, is pick a color that most represents our family vacation. Now this one is important since we are such a classy outfit, we need to make a bold statement with regards to our family’s lot in life. For example gold because we are all so wealthy, or purple because we are royals, blue to represent the depth  just like the ocean, or we could go out on the wild side and get some of those new fancy bright colors like 8’s runners.  Completion date March 31^st.. we need to have this one done early because the rest of the attire depends on the color.

shades: responsibility..32 we need to get some nice shades. Remember you have to pick a neutral pair (men and woman) I prefer the John Lennon look; we could get colors to match our swim trunks!

Hats: responsibility 63… this one we can have a little flexibility on, because some of us need hats that are different than others. For example if we go the route of the straw beach hat 6 needs one with a tight weave or he will have a red head! Like for example blue swim trunks, blue shades, we could get nice straw hats with a blue band.

Shirts: responsibility..63 &71… I can imagine all of us in a notice family photo, with same type of shirt. I picture a monogrammed tee shirt, I can see it now, we all can have on the same shirt monogrammed with our code, this way there will be no confusion as to our names!. This could also be in blue.. blue shirt, blue shades, blue hats and blue swim trunks’!

This all needs to be started soon, for example on the shirts, a color and type of shirt has to be picked, then each of us needs to tell 63 &71 the size and type, then ordered, shipped, and distributed. My guess is that this is at least a 6 month turnaround!

6’s job will be to refine the ground rules. It seems that last year they were mostly ignored. Now you tell me, how in the world anyone can enjoy themselves with-out any direction. If one looks at our modern day leaders (Clark W. Griswold or Willie Robertson) what do they do when they are on vacation, well they PLAN! Last year 6 was very nervous and uneasy during our vacation because it seemed like there was constant confusion and disorganization because no one followed the ground rules. THIS YEAR IS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT! In fact I have come up with a new one. This ground rule will guarantee that we will not have squatters in front of us on the beach. Here it is.

When 7 goes to stabucks every morning to get 6 some decaf coffee, he will purchase 8 a stogie. At around 10:00 8 will go down to the beach and light that sucker, thus causing anyone who has the intention to sit near us to choose another spot on the beach! More ground rules in later posts.

Words of wisdom: If you plan ahead and follow the rules, one will exceed. If not you are guaranteed to fail.
