Summer is here, but 6 would like to take a little stroll
back in history to the PVV. This year on the PVV we had the privilege to spend
an evening at the Atlantic room or the Ryder Cup Bar whatever the place is
called. It is one of those places where the reality of the world hits you
square in the face, just like watching a marathon of the real housewife’s of OC
or New York…etc.
Let’s us start from the beginning. We are all sitting around
on Wednesday night over a fresh bottle of Rex and a nice stogie, when the
subject of dinner on Thursday night came up it was suggested by 4 and 4A that
we spend the evening at the Atlantic Room, since 6 had no idea what was being
asked he agreed, but 7 and 8 had a few recommendations, while others would call
them demands. The first one was that 4 and 4A needed to go up there and see how
many people were there and get our names on the reservation list. The second
was if we had to wait more than 30 minutes they were not going. It was now
time, 6,7,8 were sitting there with a fresh bottle of Rex, and the phone rang,
4 told us that we will have a table in 20 minutes, so the three of us jumped in
the old family truckster and headed to the far end of the island. We pulled
into the parking lot, and it was packed, we actually had to wait for someone to
leave to find a place to park. As one might expect, there were the pretentious
people standing at the door, all dressed in their finest, not paying any
attention to what was going on around them, it was as if they were the only
people on the earth. DO you think that they would even move away from the door
so people could get in or out, well the answer to that is simple, no, for they
did not even know that 6 was there. So 6 in his most polite manner, just said
to himself, what the heck they are not moving, so 6 will just have to act like
they were not there just like they were action like he was not there. 6 walked
thru the middle of their conversation opened the door and walked in, at that
point if looks could kill 6 would have been laying on the threshold of the club
at the ocean course. 6 found 4,4A,7,and 8 at the bar, and just at that time our
table became ready, talk about timing (good job 4 and 4A). At this time the
fund began! Mind you this place was packed, they sat us outside on the deck
just as requested and there was an empty table right next to us, within minutes
two housewife’s sat their butts down at the table, and did not care that there
were 500 people waiting in line to get that table, but just as a housewife
would do, they did not care, then the hostess brought 4 people to sit at that
table, and had the unenvious job of telling the housewife’s that they had to
move, and yes they were offend one of them actually had the never to make a
comment as they were walking away. Only at the far end of the island! Well 6
could go on but 6 thinks you get the picture. The only other thing that he
would like to say is, he has never seen so many people who were supposedly
rich, dress to the 9’s with such cheap apparel.
It really looked as if they must
have gone to a K-mart store that was in the process of closing down to purchase
their clothes. They did look nice, but one could tell that they were lacking in
quality, in both what they had on their back as well as the person who had them
on their backs. BTW one last footnote, do the young ones among us
(61,62,63,71,21A) remember the day Lewis came down for dinner in dress shoes
and a shirt, and all of you were just embarrassed to be seen with him? Well it
looks like Lewis is a trend setter, that is the style of the unRich and un
Famous! They all had dress shoes on with their short-pants!
words of wisdom: Please be who you are, if you want to be a want to be, you will always be a want to be.
