July 4th.. Independance Day

As 6 sits back and watches the sun fall behind him, as the waves continue to break as the sand on the beach slowly cools after a long day at the beach. There is one thing that is very noticeable, may people be frolicking on the beach all decked out in red white and blue garb. Yes, you guessed it, it is 4th of July eve! You know 6 is wondering what those people are going to ware on the 4th, if they all have red white and blue on today? Something tells me they might have to give out clothes pins at Night Harron Park for the fireworks on the 4th!

6 has been involved in conversations with people who can recall events from when the were 2-3 years old, and 6 says ‘Hog wash” with 6’s superior astuteness, can only remember back to approximately 6 years of age….Hummmm does that mean 1 can remember back to age 1? Interesting thought to ponder? That means 61,62 and 63, will not have any memories for another couple of decades! Anyway, 6 can remember a July 4th from decades ago. Just like a fine bottle of Rex, 6 can be compared to a fine wine, smooth, full bodied, and well-aged.

Early in the morning, soon after breakfast, 6 washed and waxed his mode of transportation in preparation for the big parade. 6 rode his shinny wheels to his friends’ house where the both of them strategically place a baseball card so it would come in contact with the spokes of the wheels, then carefully place red white and blue streamers in those same spokes. What a sight! Next, up to the blvd, to show off the bikes as the parade passed while the fireman tossed candy to all of the little beggars. The parade finally ran its course, then it was time to all pile in the family truckster, when 0 took us to see the fireworks at a family friends’ home in the suburbs of Etna. Upon completion of the fireworks we were all treated to a fresh “Klondike” from Isleys. Fast forward a decade or so, and believe it or not the exact same thing happened, with some minor changes. The parade happened per schedule, for some unknown reason, 6 forgot to get out of bed!  Unfortunately, this caused 6 to missed it, but 6 was there in spirit. The afternoon was spent at a new park in the neighborhood. The park included a swimming pool, baseball fields, and food trucks, before there was such thing as food trucks. The best part was playing in the all-star game at the field. That was a true honor, being included with the best baseball players in our city, while big crowds stood by and cheered on their favorite athletes. Once the fan fair on the game was completed, it was time for a cool dip in the new pool! While that was going on in the distance one could hear the live band playing welcoming all of the patrons to the park. The township hired a band to play music until the fireworks show was about to commence. 6 can remember like it was yesterday, they played two songs over and over, until the lyrics were burned into our brains…. I’m Herey the 8th I am, by the Herman Hermits and The Rapper by the Jaggers.  6 has been told that there may be instances where occasionally 6 stretches reality. Wellllll 4/7 and 8, this ain’t no algebra II, buttttt 6 remembers the band, it was the Jaggers (6 thinks), 6 is just saying! Before two of you fall to the floor, yes 6 was an all-star little league player! Now for full disclosure, it was the 4th of July weekend, and if one remembers back in the day, most people got the whole week off of work, what a way to honor July 4th!  Eventually came the fireworks and all was well.

Fast forward a few more decades, Kiawah Island 2026… Guess what, there is a parade in Nigh Harron Park, people are invited to decorate their bikes, and join in the parade! Could you just imagine, 6 riding his bike in that parade! Plastic bottle of Jack and water for hydration in his basket, the original hammer shirt, red white and blue swim trunks, grey bucket hat, what a sight! A band will be playing at the Sanctuary, 6 bets it’s not the Jaggers. Word of warning, don’t order a drink while the band is playing for, they will be all packed up and be on their way home before your drink arrives.  Then we would all end the day with fireworks at Night Harron Park.

6 just covered N-1 decades, and we still celebrate July 4th in the same way! Tons of people enjoying each other, performing the same traditions, as they did N-.5 centuries ago.  Freedom, Patriotism, Declaration, Liberty, Constitution, and Proud to be an American!

6 just took the final look at the beach cam, holy heck! 6 knows that the whole point of this blog is tradition, but even last decade, there was no such thing as Shibumi shades, but today there are 10, count them 10 Shibumi on the beach cam! Think about it, in 100 yards (estimate) there are 10 of those things! On a normal day, there are not 10 people on the beach cam! No matter your opinion of the Shibumi shades, capitalism is working well! 6 will venture a bet, that the majority of those shades have Yeti coolers in these coolers a case or two of PBR!

Time to start planning for 2014!

Since we are in the dead of winter, the snow is forever coming and the cold is making 6’s bones hurt, so 6 guesses it is time for vacation planning! 6 is announcing the official opening of Vacation 2014 planning.                 6 and 8 have ordered the condo’s , so let the trips to Belk begin (that is if 62 will ever take me there) so that we can enter the shopping zone! 21 and 21A better get their butts in gear! 6 keeps hearing rumors that we might have a return visitor(s) this year. I will not say whom, because I don’t want to put any undue pressure on those that are retired, but time is a wasting! Just picture this, sitting on the beach could possibly be representatives of 1 thru 8 including 0A, Oh what a sight! 6 can imagine walking down the beach and looking up at our homestead and seeing a handsome group of people enjoying the majesty of sweltering Kiawah afternoon on the beach. The first bunch will b...
Now we are into a new week, I know that I am a day late, but I hope not a dollar short! This week you have to answer two questions:  First where is he and second most important why is he there. The only hint I will give is the picture was taken this Saturday!
Well not much new today, I guess the only thing is that the PENS are playing tonight, it is hard to believe that is that time of the year already! Soon it will be time for us to be sitting on the beach! I can't wait! I did look on the Beachwalker site and they can a discount on gold but as you might expect they did not say how much or what you have to do, I will make that my project for the week, I will find out how much of a discount we can get! I wonder if Ash is going to join us this year? I know that she really want to learn, so I will have to see what we can do about that! Can anyone guess where this picture was taken?
