How simple it should be

The other night the debates were on, and on all the other stations was re-runs from last year, so 6 was forced to watch Andy of Mayberry, 4 episodes in a row! It was a glorious time, but one thing 6 noticed was the wardrobe budget of that show must have been next to nothing. Andy wore is uniform, Barn his uniform and the same suit, Aunt Bee the dress, Otis the same suit, and Opie the same jeans and striped shirt. 6 Then was thinking about The Beverly hillbillies, they all wore the same thing with one exception, they got all dressed up in their fancy duds for special meals in the bill-yard-room. OK you all give? What the heck does this have to do with vacation… let me tell you! Well 6 will just focus on himself, one could relate this to yourselves if you like, but this is all about 6. The night before we left on vacation , 6 stood all alone in his bedroom wondering what to take on vacation! I opened my closet, it was full, went to my dresser it was full, and was just amazed at...

Contest!

Have you ever had the feeling come over you like you have been here before? Different but kind of the same? Excited but relaxed? Saturday afternoon we pulled in to the Piggly-Wiggly   ops now Bi-lo ran around the store like a crazy man pulling things from the shelves as if there were a major snow storm about to hit! Who knows where 6A, 61 and 62 were! In less than 10 minutes 6 covered every single isle in that store and each item he chose was a Bi-Lo special! Time to find the rest of the family! Long lines at the checkout so why not get in line and have them come to me with their stuff…. Not a good idea… really has this down to a science, a week of shopping in 15 minutes! Let’s see if anyone else can match that! Yes we certainly ended up with a strange mix of items, but 6 was good for the week and that is all that matters. Same store different name! We loaded up the car, it all fit nicely in the trunk no one had to sit with bags of food on their laps, and off we went! Soon...

To drive or not to drive... that is the question!

One thing that 6 learned over the years is that “ One can't change one's essential nature”. It all started out one Friday morning, my bags were packed, and in the trunk of the car, 6 was all set for a 8:00 am departure to the airport to start the family vacation! 6 was dressed to the 9’s in his best vacation attire. Seersucker   short pants, my best white polo shirt with the blue sailboats, my straight out of the box from Belk Sperry topsiders with the matching blue and white laces, dammm 6 was styling. You know it is too bad that 6 doesn’t look like a GQ model because for if he did he would be a walking advertisement for Belk.   6 was ready to roll! In 6’s world just because he was ready means nothing, his bag was all alone in the trunk of the car, just as 6 was sitting in the car all alone. Good thing he told the crew that we had to leave 1 hour before we really did. We arrived at the airport, we TSA pre-select, so we were able to just pass right thru the 1,0...

How could you know!

Time for our annual ground rules. Before we go there 6 just has to make a statement about how many rules and regulation we have to deal with every day. Let us start at the top, 10 commandments, turns into 7 articles of the US constitution, which turns into (10) amendments the bill of rights, then to 17 other amendments. From there we need to complicate it even further resulting in countless number of federal, state, and local laws. What this means is something very simple has become so complex that no one other than the 6 could keep them all straight! Every single day our tax dollars are being spent by individuals who are doing nothing but making rules laws or whatever you want to call them to meet the constantly changing demands of their people. 50% of them make no sense at all and never take root, 49% of them grow like weeds but after 10 to 20 years just fade away and are never seen again, relinquished to the dark dusty law books. That leaves the 1% that actually takes root...

Time for the dinner schedule

The travel plan is somewhat different this year. This year 6   will not be packing the truckster to the gills with beach paraphernalia, we are going to join the rest of the rich family members over there on Melody lane, and fly the friendly skies! No 6 did not win the “pig –in the- poke” and yes my bonus this year was the one year subscription to the jelly of the month club, so 6 doesn’t want to hear it!   I can’t wait for the stewardess to ask me what I want to drink, and 6 will just sit back and say give me a coke, and since airline travel is so luxurious now, she will ask if 6 would like it in the can, and with a surprised look 6 will respond I’ll have it right here! Well now that 6 thinks about it he will probably turn it down, since they charge you a buck for the darn thing! Now what 6 did not realize was how much the rich members of our group (32 aren’t you glad 6 changed his term this year) have to spend to get to paradise! Don’t you –all worry, just because y...
