8th best beach in the USA

Did you know that Beachwalker park on Kiawah island it the 8^th best beach in the USA?  It is considered one of the new comers on the list of the top 10 beaches. It first made the list in 2005, and has steadily progresses to its current position.  If you remember in a previous post on the Kiawah in the news, there was a statement about how there is a big controversy brewing among the members about a new gym that they are planning on building on 6.5 acres along the Kiawah river. Well they mention this in the article, and if they build it may drop in rankings. It seems that some of the new leadership on the island needs another place to go so they don’t have to be with their families. 6 did do a little looking around and found out that all these new things that they are planning on building are for the residents, so they will be able to enjoy them, while passing the increased cost on to us, the little guys, who have to scrape and save all year long to be able to spend some quality time as a family. All the while they are sitting back enjoying their new private gym, third private pool, just laughing at us!  I guess that is how the other half lives.  After all it is only going to be a $150 a month increase in their dues. As one member put it “ it is only $150 a month, you would have to spend $300 to $400 a month for a gym membership elsewhere” .  Is this guy nuts! IF someone had that much money to blow on a gym membership, they would have a gym in their own house!

As we get closer, it is time to start to think about the important things…  What is the dress code this year? Are we doing family shirts? What is the official color of our bathing suits?  What am I going to make for dinner on Saturday night? What time is Mass? What are the ground rules for this year? Are my chairs in working order? Who is going to clog the shitter this year? What are we going to do with the socks? What cards games are we going to learn? Can I use the ocean for a toilet? What week will the jellies be there? Can I continue to put my trash on top of the dumpster?  Can I figure out what side of the car to put the gas in? What kind of wine and beer will we purchase? What time are we going to take the family portrait? Will scooter still be the chair guy?  Can we still bring our own beer into the sanctuary bar? Will the family of turtle killers be there?  Well stay tuned in the next several weeks we will explore the answers to these and many more questions!

When we look at the world what do we see? Are you a good witch or a bad witch? 6 says what ever determines if you are a good witch or bad witch is in all you view the world. The wizard of Oz stated: A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others. Damn that old geezer was profound.. The Dude just kept on saying “that rug really tied that room the room together” .or “The Dude. Takin' 'er easy for all us sinners”. It's just a game, man.  Obviously you're not a golfer. Yeah, well. The Dude abides. Uh, I'm just gonna go find a cash machine   The dude has several crazy people after him, and he just sat back took it in stride a white Russian in hand, and all he needed was that rug! He could have had power, money and fame. TO get it all he had to do was grab it, but no he was a simple man brushed off worldly needs and focused on the simple things in life, his rug and his friends.

You are all wondering what the heck this has to do with the adventures of Kiawah, well sit back and let me tell you. Last summer 6 participated in a survey conducted by the  KHA (Kiawah Home owners Association), and 6 just got the received the results. The survey consisted of 500 random people who were on the island that week. Here is a summary of the results. How many bottles of Rex does your group drink? Survey says??? 0 my answer 15.? How many can’s of PBR are consumed? The survey says??? 0 my answer72 what is the average beach time spent per person per day? The survey says??? 2 mine 6.5. Average value of your vehicle? The survey says $40K, mine $2K. Purchase per day of good and or service on the Island? The survey says $100… mine 0 I did ask them if free coffee at the sanctuary counted. Average time per day spent with the group you came with? The survey says 2.6 hours… mine 9 hours. As the survey proves we are all just like the Dude, looking for his rug drinking a white Russian, we are looking for family and beach with a glass of Rex or PBR.

Words of wisdom: In the end the things you have serve not purpose other than to gather dust.
